From a young age, values such as discipline, loyalty, and service were impressed upon Eston, through both his family, Church, and time in the Boy Scouts where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout (with palms) at age 13. Eston grew up in the home of the Crimson Tide, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where he played competitive golf on various junior tours in the area and was frequently mentioned in Golfweek magazine for achievements in tournament play. Additionally, he worked as a DJ at the University of Alabama radio station WVUA 90.7 FM and as a project manager at the Industrial Development Authority in Tuscaloosa.
He would go on to study Economics and Finance at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. During this time, Eston also spent a summer working at Towers-Perrin, a financial services firm with a syndicate in the world- famous Lloyds of London in England. His studies would then take him to Des Moines, Iowa where he attended law school at Drake University. Here, Eston was a Criminal Law & Procedure Teaching Assistant and
conducted groundbreaking death penalty research that was later published into a book used at law schools across the Country. Moreover, he was a member of the Delta Theta Phi law fraternity, was listed on the Dean’s List for scholastic achievement, and graduated with a certificate in Health Law. Eston was also blessed with an opportunity to spend two summers as a law clerk in Nashville, Tennessee with the prestigious Hollins, Raybin & Weissman firm.
After a brief time in Denver, Colorado spent snow skiing and working as a procurement contractor for Level 3 Communications (but mostly skiing), Eston’s passion for golf would call him to southern Florida to work as a Pro Shop Manager/Caddy at a first-class, invitation only, private country club, as well as caddying in local amateur/professional tournaments like the Honda Classic. Here, he also spent time working as a middle school math teacher and private tutor for students seeking help in either a specific subject, or in preparing for the LSAT/ACT/SAT. In 2019 Eston would decide return to legal practice and move to Lexington, Kentucky, a place where he has strong family ties, to help start a bookkeeping business, take the Kentucky Bar Exam, and work with the real-estate firm, Mainous & Grant.
Eston’s desire to be of service inspired him to apply to work at the Public Defender’s Office (DPA) where he was informed of a dire need for attorneys in Western Kentucky, prompting his move to Paducah. Falling in love with the area, he would spend 2.5 years at the DPA advocating on behalf of indigent clients across multiple counties in Western Kentucky. He has represented clients, both juvenile and adults, accused of crimes ranging from theft to murder. Eston maintained a heavy emphasis on Trial work, leading to him being selected to travel to Virginia to attend the National Criminal Defense College, a trial skills program with attorneys from all over the world. Moreover, during his time as a public defender, he also gained invaluable experience managing the DUI docket for McCracken County.
Outside of work, Eston’s interest’s include golf, training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at 3 Rivers Academy, yoga, meditation, and volunteering his time for organizations such as First Methodist Church, United Cerebral Palsy, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Boy Scouts of America, and local food banks/kitchens.
